Jot — Privacy Policy

App-specific supplement · Effective date:

This policy describes how Jot: Habit Tracker(“Jot”, “the app”), published by Arjang Consulting, handles your information. It supplements our general Privacy Policy. Where the two differ for Jot specifically, this policy controls.

1. Jot Is Local-First

Jot is designed to keep your data on your device. Your habits, daily entries, settings, and history are stored locally using Apple’s on-device persistence (SwiftData). Jot has no user accounts, no login, and no servers of its own — we never receive, store, or transmit the habits you track or the entries you log.

Because your data lives on your device, your iOS device backup settings (such as iCloud device backups) govern whether a copy is included in your personal backups. That backup is controlled entirely by you and Apple, not by us.

2. Apple Health Integration

Jot offers an optional integration with Apple Health for selected habits (for example, sleep and workouts). This integration is off by default and is only enabled when you explicitly grant permission through the standard iOS Health authorization prompt.

  • Jot only reads the specific Health data categories you authorize.
  • Imported Health data is used solely on your device to populate the relevant habit entries.
  • We never transmit, sell, or share your Health data with anyone, including Arjang Consulting.
  • You can revoke Health access at any time in the iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health, or within Jot’s settings.

Health data accessed through Jot is never used for advertising or marketing and is never shared with third parties for those purposes.

3. AI-Assisted Insights

Jot’s reports can generate AI-assisted insights about your habit trends. These insights are produced using Apple’s on-device foundation models (Apple Intelligence). The analysis runs locally on your device — your habit data is not sent to Arjang Consulting or to any third-party AI provider to generate these insights.

On-device AI availability depends on your device and iOS version. Where it is unavailable, Jot simply omits AI insights rather than sending your data elsewhere.

4. Diagnostics & Analytics

Jot does not embed third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs. The only aggregate, anonymized usage and crash information we may receive comes through Apple’s built-in App Analytics in App Store Connect, which is governed by Apple’s own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). This data does not identify you personally, and you can opt out by disabling “Share With App Developers” in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements.

5. Exporting & Deleting Your Data

Because Jot stores data locally, you remain in control of it at all times. You can delete individual entries or habits within the app, and deleting the app from your device removes its locally stored data. We hold no server-side copy to delete on your behalf.

Jot also lets you export your entries to a CSV file and import a previously exported file to restore them. Exported files are created on your device and shared only when, and where, you choose through the standard iOS share sheet — Arjang Consulting never receives them.

6. Children’s Privacy

Jot is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Since Jot keeps data on the device and operates without accounts, no personal information is sent to us.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as Jot evolves. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
