Jot — Terms & Conditions
These terms govern your use of Jot: Habit Tracker(“Jot”, “the app”), an iOS application published by Arjang Consulting. They supplement our general Terms & Conditions. By downloading or using Jot, you agree to both. Where the two differ for Jot specifically, these terms control.
1. License & Platform
We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Jot for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these terms and Apple’s App Store Terms of Service. Jot is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store for iOS; there is no Android version at this time, and any copy obtained outside the App Store is unauthorized.
You agree not to:
- Copy, modify, or distribute the app or any part of it
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract its source code
- Use the app for any unlawful purpose or in violation of applicable regulations
2. Apple App Store
Because Jot is distributed through the Apple App Store, the following terms apply in addition to the rest of this agreement. In the event of any conflict, the App Store Terms of Service and Apple’s Licensed Application End User License Agreement also apply.
- This agreement is concluded between you and Arjang Consulting only, and not with Apple. Arjang Consulting, not Apple, is solely responsible for Jot and its content.
- Your license to use Jot is limited to a non-transferable license to use the app on any Apple-branded device that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support services for Jot. Any maintenance or support questions should be directed to us at the contact address below.
- In the event of any failure of Jot to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to Jot, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, or expenses attributable to any failure to conform to any warranty are our responsibility.
- Arjang Consulting, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to Jot or your possession and use of it, including product-liability claims, claims that Jot fails to conform to any legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer-protection, privacy, or similar legislation.
- In the event of any third-party claim that Jot or your possession and use of it infringes that third party’s intellectual property rights, Arjang Consulting, not Apple, is solely responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
- You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. Government embargo or designated as a “terrorist-supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms, and upon your acceptance of these terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
3. Not Medical or Health Advice
Jot is a personal habit-tracking and journaling tool. Any data it displays — including imported Apple Health data, charts, reports, and AI-assisted insights — is provided for general informational and self-reflection purposes only. It is not medical, clinical, psychological, nutritional, or fitness advice, and it is not a substitute for consultation with a qualified professional.
Always seek the advice of a qualified health provider regarding any medical condition or before making changes to your health, exercise, sleep, or other routines. Never disregard professional advice because of something shown in Jot.
4. AI-Assisted Insights
Jot’s AI-assisted insights are generated by on-device foundation models and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading. They are offered as a convenience and should not be relied upon as factual conclusions or recommendations. You are responsible for evaluating any insight before acting on it.
5. Your Data
Jot stores your data locally on your device, as described in the Jot Privacy Policy. You are responsible for maintaining your own device backups. We are not liable for any loss of locally stored data resulting from device loss, failure, app deletion, or your own backup configuration.
Jot can export your entries to a CSV file and import a previously exported file. You are responsible for safeguarding any files you export and for the contents and accuracy of any file you choose to import.
6. Disclaimer of Warranties
Jot is provided on an “as-is” and “as-available” basis, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that Jot will be error-free, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Arjang Consulting shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, Jot — including any decisions made based on data, charts, or insights it displays — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
8. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms as Jot evolves. The effective date above reflects the most recent revision. Your continued use of Jot after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
